Coke’s “Hug Me”: The official video

Ogilvy & Mather’s Coca-Cola hug machine is going a bit nuts round the world at the moment around Facebook and twitter etc. This week it also got picked up by Mashable, Huffington Post, Forbes, Ryan Seacrest and lots of other traditional media like the ABC, Herald Sun and MSN.
Previous footage has only been camera phone user generated but Ogilvy have now released a video of the concept.

Khai can send it to whoever he wants, but it still pales in comparison to the Coke machines before it.
Also, Ryan Seacrest?
You don’t just send shit to the huffington post moron. It gets picked up if it’s good or news worthy. How many campaigns have you done that get that kind of coverage. Good on them I say. We need more of these things in Singapore.
Great work Troy & Jon. You two rock!
By “we need more of these things in Singapore” do you mean fake campaigns?
I think there are plenty of these floating around.
Gee, Harold. where’s the pic of you hugging a vending machine? Get real… Ogilvy Singapore is a scam factory. It always was, always will be. Look at its campaign for East Timor tourism (appeared when there was a war going on), ads for death, ads for God, All the same client… the Love Church of Singapore. Must have a very generous congregation. Come on, it’s a bit like the agency that cried wolf once to often.
Which section of The Huffington Post did this article appear? the comedy section? The top stories in the Post were “Child Molester Laughs At Judge, Gets Nearly 600 Years” and “The Nazi Party goes to Washington” and then something about teenagers in Asia hugging a vending machine. There’s also something about a Tsunami killing scores of people but how about that hug machine, eh? Wow! Where exactly is it located? In the foyer of Ogilvy Singapore? Why not share the happiness? hahaha
Is it really fair for this agency to be awarded metal when they rode on the success of the other agency which originated Open Happiness? Just because they share the same client brand?
Discuss.
It’s called Ogilvy PR pushing it around. The idea is still lame. People slammed it on Huffington post. The typeface on the machine is so NOT coke. And yeah, they are totally riding on the concept of others. If you can’t win new biz, you’d better win a bronze lion right? They got nothing in One Show. Hope Ogilvy SG has something more than this silly thing. And sure, quite easy to move something with the right connections. Ogilvy PR was muscled into pushing it hard in NYC. They are still bitching about it, ha. It’s all upstairs politics. What to do? Shame Jon and Troy’s name was taken off the project. A real shame.
Jon and Troy’s name got taken off? Good or bad, their names should still be on it if they drove it (unless they don’t want to have anything to do with it). So who’s name is on it now?
Thanks to Cojones the names are back on so no worries. Ogilvy Singapore is hurting now so this one award entry better win something. The Coke machine thing is sort of old hat but good luck anyway. Was hoping for a bigger stepping stone for the agency and what’s left of the team. If not, just pray Juggie and Richie can finally hit something without help from the jury president this year.
