Eddie Wong new.jpgInnocean is continuing to make a creative impact with the news today that Eddie Wong is taking up the Chief Creative Officer chair in China with immediate effect.

The news follows the network’s earlier coup with the appointment of Advertising legend Bob Isherwood as Worldwide Creative Advisor.

Wong is Singaporean and has been working in China for 14 years. With 29 years spanning across Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China, he’s worked for respected agencies such as Batey Ads, Leo Burnett, D’Arcy, TBWA, Euro RSCG and most recently Draftfcb China where he was National ECD since his appointment in December 2010.

“It’s my great honor to welcome Eddie’s participation” says Jooho Jeon, Global Vice President of Innocean and Head of China RHQ, “As a marketing communication solution provider, Innocean aims to dig out novel, enlightening and reliable insights. Boasting rich experience in advertising and deep insights in Chinese market, Eddie’s participation is bound to bring Innocean’s creative level in China up to a newly higher standard, I’m looking forward to our unfolding cooperation.”

Bob Isherwood, Innocean’s Worldwide Creative Advisor says, “I am very excited that Eddie is joining Innocean as CCO China. He is experienced in a regional role, and his talent is going to lift our work in China. I’m also looking forward to Eddie’s input to the newly formed Global Creative Council.”

Says Wong: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to join and I really look forward to collaborate with the team to build Innocean China. I also love the fact that Innocean is the in-house agency of Hyundai Motor Group and that indicates great opportunity to do great work for the brand.”

In 2005, Eddie was ranked No.1 by Campaign Brief Asia as China’s Hottest Creative Talent. He has received nods from the likes of One Show, Clios, D&AD, Cannes, NYADC, Australian AWARD, Adfest etc. and has judged at major international and regional award shows.

The opportunity for creative leadership of the Draftfcb China operations will be one of the highest priorities for incoming CEO Edward Bell, who starts work in March. In his role at Draftfcb, Mr. Wong has held strong reporting lines to Jonathan Harries, the agency’s global chief creative officer. Throughout this transition period Wong will work with Harries and the agency’s China creative leadership to effect a smooth handover of work in progress. Harries will be in day-to-day contact with the creative leadership and overall creative team in China until a new ECD is in place.
