A giant billboard designed by Leo Burnett Malaysia in the middle of Bukit Bintang, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous shopping districts, showcased the McDonald’s iconic Sundae Cone in all its glory. However, there was one problem – it was melting. The task was simple. People had to use their smartphones to spin the fan on the billboard, bring down the temperature and save the melting Sundae Cone.

Boy awards time really brings out all the da vincis….in the past we asked people to read a print ad or watch a tv spot and they cant be bothered to even do that.
Now we’re asking someone who’s walking on the city’s busiest street to stop, get their phone out, download some app, and use it to spin a fan that will stop a sundae from melting???
For what? Just to feel good about themselves and feature in a case study video…..
they probably don’t have to download an app.
and they get free ice cream.
some fools like ice cream.
To waste their data plans getting a free ice cream cone that costs way more than its original price is just dumb.
Maybe you have to tweet #savethe sundae..still WGAF?
How is this different from using tweets to bring down the statue of King Joffre …done in NZ a month ago?
You don’t need to download an app. Just log on to a microsite.
The whole area was wifi enabled. Most people did not mind using their 3G networks though.
Bukit Bintang is a touristy place where people pretty much just hang around.
People get to have some fun and a free ice cream. Good deal!
The giant billboard is owned by Moving Walls and was provided for the use of McDonald’s and Leo Burnett as part of the Moving Minds Challenge 2014.
