Dentsu Aegis Network joins forces with APLMA to eliminate Malaria with launch of M2030
Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific has launched M2030 – Defeating Malaria Together, a new Asia Pacific platform that will mobilise business leadership and funding to eliminate malaria in Asia by 2030, in partnership with the Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance (APLMA). The network’s media agency, Vizeum, was appointed by APLMA as creative partner to lead the creative execution, strategy and brand development of M2030.
The M2030 initiative brings together international health organizations, corporations and consumers so that a small part of everyday purchases or actions can make a real contribution to tackling the disease.
Based on a global CSR study, it was found that 90% of consumers would choose brands associated with a social or environmental cause, however 81% of consumers cited availability of responsible products as their top barrier.
Corporations that join the initiative, will gain the right to use the M2030 trademark. In exchange, they will run corporate campaigns to raise awareness and funds, or contribute a portion of the profit of M2030-branded products and services to malaria programs. This allows stakeholders in each part of the buying process to be part of a larger cause.
All resources mobilized by M2030 partners will be channelled to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, where they will be used to support malaria-fighting programmes in the very countries where they are raised.
Kamil Gottwald, Creative Technology Director, Vizeum APAC said, “As affluence increases across Asia, we see a decline in malaria being considered an ongoing issue, and yet malaria has caused more deaths than any other disease in Asia. We’re proud to have co-launched M2030 through our creative and strategic services, building a brand created in Asia for Asia. Through raising awareness and funding, we are no longer working on the premise of reducing the spread of malaria, but for it to be eliminated everywhere.”
“Vizeum and Dentsu Aegis Network have very kindly given their time to help in the fight against one of the most life threatening diseases in Asia,” said Patrik Silborn, Senior Director, APLMA. “They’ve done a wonderful job in kickstarting and developing the creative strategy and we look forward to working with the wider Dentsu Aegis Network team to go further with our efforts in eliminating malaria.”
Globally, Dentsu Aegis Network has committed to reducing malaria through Common Ground initiative “Malaria No More” since January 2017. Malaria has been a key focus for the network and is aligned with the ‘good health and well-being’ goal as part of its commitment to Common Ground which is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Dentsu Aegis Network’s contribution to both Malaria No More and M2030 are pro bono efforts.
