James Procter leaves executive creative director role at TBWA Hong Kong to return to Australia
After only six months in the chair, James Procter, the Executive Creative Director of TBWA\Hong Kong has left the company for personal reasons.
“For a number of reasons it’s important for my family to be back in Australia just at this point”, Procter told Campaign Brief Asia. “I would like to thank TBWA for the opportunity, and for understanding this situation.”
Joanne Lao, Managing Director of TBWA\Hong Kong said: “We understand James’s rationale and wish him the very best for the future.”
Procter was previously ECD at Ogilvy Singapore and in October last year was announced as the replacement for outgoing TBWA Hong Kong ECD Mark Ringer.
Procter started his career at Clemenger BBDO in his native Australia and went on to become ECD at GPY&R Sydney before moving to Y&R Singapore four years ago. He subsequently joined O&M Singapore for 12 months before leaving in July 2012.

Well, not really. But good luck back down in Oz mate. Asia has not been kind.
3 agencies in 2 1/2 years is a pretty tough record in any market. Having worked in Asia for a brief stint, it’s the toughest place in the world to work. From culture to clients, you’re in a constant battle to sell great work when it should simply sell itself. Good luck. Get settled back into Oz and claim the last 2 1/2 years as a sabbatical.
I bet the headhunters have loved him.
Headhunters don’t get paid if guys don’t stay for at least a year. So no, I think he’s hated by them.
