Taproot India scores Gold at Clio. Asia’s tally also includes 6 Silver Statues across Print/Poster
A new print campaign from Taproot India is Asia’s only Gold Statue winner so far at the Clio Awards Festival. Last night saw the presentation of half the categories including Print, Poster, Billboard and Television/Cinema/Digital. A second presentation evening tonight will acknowledge categories like Integrated, Innovative and Interactive.
Taproot’s Gold came in the Print category for their Colours of India campaign for Conqueror Paper (featured in the latest issue of Campaign Brief Asia). The campaign celebrates Conqueror’s decade in the “land of a million hues”. It was created by Taproot founders, Agnello Dias and Santosh Padhi.
Asia also picked up six Silver Statues last night across the Print and Poster categories. O&M Singapore’s Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream campaign was a big winner again, with two Silvers and five Bronze awards. Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Manila, Leo Burnett Mumbai, DDB Shanghai and JWT Singapore also won Silver.
The Grand Clio in Television/Cinema/Digital went to Publicis Mojo Sydney’s “Pure Waters” for James Boag’s Draught. The Trillion Dollar Poster Campaign for The Zimbabwean Newspaper from TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Johannesburg won the Grand Clios in both Billboard and Posters-

Firstly, congrats to Santosh Padhi on the Gold. Taproot’s Gold came in the PRINT category for their Colours of India campaign for Conqueror Paper.
And secondly, how’s this for coincidences?
“This year’s Clio Awards judging was held in San Diego and Asia’s representative on the PRINT, Poster, Direct, Billboard, Innovative Media and Integrated jury was Santosh Padhi, Chief Creative Officer/Co-Founder, Taproot India Mumbai.”
Same old work.
Well done to Singapore India and Manila. The Ben & Jerry’s campaign is picking up big everywhere. Is it entered in Cannes festival? Should win there also.
I still enjoy the Boags pure water film. It is as close to perfect as you can get.
It is a lesson to all who work on beer brands here in Asia. Make sure your clients see it as it is hard for them not to enjoy it.
I think the judges this year (and most years) have a lot to answer to.
How the fuck can the Ogily SG WWF ads be awarded. Yes they’re good but have been done over and over, it’s fuckin’ outrageous. Surely if you had your finger on the pulse of the industry or simply aware, you’d know and would not let this happen?
Loved the ben and jerr campaign. The paper campaign is nice, but i’m not so sure if it was gold worthy. Or even silver-worthy.
Way to go taproot ! We watch your work more as an inspiration. We are yet to win big internationally but await hungrily. You guys rock as an indegenous independent agency because you show all those globally affiliated pukka sahibs that 100 indian rocks !
12.12
I think you got the WWF thingy wrong. It was JWT Singapore.
I think 12:12 was on the jury. He certainly has his finger on the pulse of whatever he’s ranting about. Ogilvy is bad, but JWT is worse. Not.
The WWF campaign was done 4 years back, that too for WWF, you can find it on ads of the world
