Happiness Saigon challenges young creatives to Sell the Unsellable as part of One Show Portfolio Night

On May 22nd, Portfolio Night, the world’s largest advertising portfolio review, will be held for the very first time in Vietnam. The event is where aspiring young copywriters, art directors, and designers can meet up with their creative idols in a 1-on-1 review session, in which they can receive constructive feedback and advices from the industry’s veterans.

As the host of this important event, Happiness Saigon wants to welcome as many young talents as possible. However, we also recognize that some fresh graduates might not have enough time nor experience to build up an impressive portfolio in time for the event. Hence, we launch ‘Sell the Unsellable’, a creative challenge for all the creative newcomers, to give everyone a fair chance to showcase their creativity.

The idea is simple. Happiness Saigon has come up with four blank poster templates, featuring four unbranded items that are no longer relevant in the digital era: a landline phone, a floppy disk, a radio, and a cassette. The task for all future creatives is to add their own creative twist onto the blank template, and then present their poster to Saigon’s biggest creative masterminds on May 22nd at the event. The best idea creator of the night will win a trip to attend Portfolio Night All-stars event in New York City this August, and possibly a job at one of the best agencies in town.

The campaign was officially launched on April 29th, with announcement posts appearing on Happiness Saigon’s Facebook page and the industry’s most popular fanpages like Advertising Vietnam, Agency Life, Ad Job, and Vietcetera. The innovative mechanism instantly provoked massive interest amongst the target audience. The campaign’s website has been welcoming more than 3000 visits and still counting. The positive responses so far signal an exciting event ahead.
