Scarecrow M&C Saatchi India and Houm say Privacy isn’t dead with 100% private digital homes

Here’s a question – Who really owns all our personal data? Scarecrow M&C Saatchi India releases two films that talk about the ease of having your own digital home and about the importance of having a digital home in your own name.

We all have been uploading our personal photos, important documents, files, contacts, on third-party owned platforms and servers who have complete access to it, and also own it! And yet, most of us don’t even know this.

That’s what Houm, which positions itself as the world’s most secure and 100% private digital home, wanted to convey through this campaign in India.

The two films have been conceptualised by Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, Mumbai. The first film talks about the ease of having your own digital home that let’s you store all your important documents, photographs in one secure place.

The second film, on the other hand, talks about the importance of having a digital home in your own name, as these homes aren’t owned by some third party companies who could potentially misuse your personal data. Instead, these homes are owned and can be accessed solely by you.

Bijaei Jayaraj, Founder, Houm Technologies said, “Internet is playing an increasingly important role in everyone’s life. However, Internet is massively consolidated with unimaginable amount of power consolidated in a few hands – through the ownership of data and infrastructure, and over 4 billion users of the internet is rendered powerless.

Our vision is to bring privacy back on the internet, by creating the concept of private, individual ownership on the internet. This can be achieved only by a few billion users building their digital homes on the internet, owned by the respective owner and accessed only by him or her.”

Raghu Bhat, Founder Director, Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, said: “People say data is the new oil. It’s true because it always leaks. When people end up giving away their personal data to a private entity, without even realizing it, something is not right. Building a Houm is way to assert our fundamental right of ownership over things that belong to us.”

Vaishakh Jhunjhunwala, Associate Creative Director, Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, said, “In today’s age, privacy is the most often used term and also the most often forgotten virtue. We as people have gotten so used to having our privacy invaded that it’s almost become a necessary evil in our lives. That’s where a product like Houm steps in. This is what our endeavour has been to educate people through our campaign.”

The films are live on Houm’s digital platforms and are part of a 360 degree campaign that is currently being rolled out in different phases.
