In an industry dominated by MNCs, boutique agency Kinetic Singapore shows once again that local is not second best. On Friday night, it won 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze for a total of 14 metals at The Creative Circle Awards.
Kinetic also walked away with 8 special awards including the prestigious Design Agency of the Year; Independent Agency of the Year; Young Designer of the Year; Young Art Director of the Year; Young Copywriter of the Year and Photographer of the Year.
Its client Temasek Shophouse was honoured with Advertiser of the Year while its team came up tops too at the NexGen Challenge, a 48-hour competition designed to test young creatives under real-world conditions.
Amongst Kinetic’s award-winning work this year is the The [Not-So] Convenience Store, an exhibition on waste and sustainability for Temasek Shophouse. While looking like a typical convenience store, it was instead stocked with more inconvenient but sustainable alternatives, driving home the fact that our culture of convenience is killing the Earth.
Projects for long-time client MINI were also recognised at the award show. These include MINI EXTRAODDINARY, an exploratory trail which turned the odd spaces and overlooked nooks of Joo Chiat into the stage for art installations, experiential activities and community building; as well as the design work for MINI’s 2019 red packets. The award-winning streak extended to work for new clients too such as Poh Heng Jewellery, Gather Cowork and And Us Agency.
“We are really grateful to have clients who believe in us,” said Pann Lim, Creative Director of Kinetic Singapore. “All credit and honour goes to my team who have always given their 1000% to every job! This caps a great year for us which saw the younger generation rising to lead the company and carrying the Kinetic torch. Being honoured with best Young Designer, Young Art Director, Young Copywriter as well as winning the NexGen Challenge is testimony to their passion and dedication.”
