AKA Asia’s Annual Fundraiser Returns Bigger and Better than Ever with #BakingforBabies for Newborns Vietnam

This year independent communications agency AKA Asia will be BakingforBabies in a new partnership with Newborns Vietnam, an NGO dedicated to reducing newborn mortality in Vietnam.

Supported entirely by donations, its programmes focus on addressing the deficit of specialist medical and nursing education in Vietnam.

For the seventh year running, the team will once again don their aprons and stretch their creativity to the kitchen to help give every baby the best chance of surviving. In 2018, over 48 newborns lost their lives every day in Vietnam, accounting for a mortality rate of 10.6 deaths per 1,000 live births. In comparison, this figure is 2.1 in Singapore.

Over the last six years, the AKA team has popped over 130 baked goods out of the oven, raising more than $8,000 for its previous benefactor, The Movember Foundation.

Founding Partner, Amy Wright, said, “At AKA Asia, we believe that every individual deserves equal opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Newborns Vietnam is an organisation that shares this value intrinsically and we are proud to journey with them in their cause. Our charity bake-offs have received fantastic support from our staff, clients and vendors in the past, and we’re hoping that this year will be bigger and better than before with support from the public as well.”

Bidding will commence at 12pm on 4 December, and for three hours, members of the public will get to bid to their tummies’ content on AKA Asia’s Facebook page. The icing on the cake? All winning bids above $100 will get a brewtiful limited-edition AKA Asia mug.
