In these changing times with lockdowns and quarantines, there is the ever-increasing need to be able to produce and create projects remotely and from home. With that, Directors Think Tank has announced that they have added Oz to their roster of directors.

Director’s Think Tank (DTT) will exclusively represent US-based claymation animator Oz for commercial and branded content work in South East Asia.

DTT’s film director Hyrul Anuar previously collaborated with Oz, also popularly known as Mr Oz, on a series of claymation spots for Indonesia’s 2019 Citra Pariwara Awards which bagged two silver and two bronze under animation category. Mr Oz specialises in claymation, a specialised form of animation where clay objects are physically manipulated and captured frame by frame repeatedly. All work was carried out remotely with the animator based in the US during the entire production process.

Commenting on the new addition to DTT’s roster, Intan Sham, Executive Producer at DTT said, “We’re excited to have Mr Oz join our growing family! We came across his work when we spent a crazy amount of hours scouring through Instagram trying to find inspiration and a fresh execution for the Citra Pariwara boards. This partnership opens up a completely new creative outlet for us, as the claymation technique is incredibly unique and can bring endless of possibilities to storytelling.”

“We are always looking for additional solutions to solve problems especially in these strange times, and with his background in claymation, Mroz offers a unique style and aesthetic,” said Pat Singh, Excutive Producer at DTT.

Mr Oz began his career in entertainment and television, hosting an original comedy show on a local origination channel in Philadelphia. Following a stint hosting comic book convention assets for Comcast OnDemand, he moved his focus to creating his own clay animation web series titled Tales of Isolation. Mr Oz operates as a one-man team producing, directing, creating, and editing all content himself. He was hired by Marvel Comics to create a Marvel “clayverse” showcasing some of Marvel’s top characters for Venomverse Claymation Web Series, along with becoming Marvel’s first ever claymation comic book artist to create unique covers for both Deadpool and Jessica Jones books. He continues to collaborate on branded projects in the US.

Mr Oz is also well versed with creating long-format claymation films, having ventured into directing music videos in full claymation for bands like F.Virtue, Blockhead, and Joywave.

“Working with Think Tank is a lot of fun. It’s really out of sight how they helped get the clay art in front of new audiences around the planet which is cool because I really want to become big in Asia-Pacific,” said Mr Oz.

Mr Oz joins the growing list of foreign directors and artists that have joined DTT’s roster.
