The Work 2020 Contenders: The Producers

| | No Comments

With Cannes Lions and LIA postponed until 2021, Campaign Brief is still out to recognise and showcase the great work that is being produced in the region. So we are introducing The Work 2020 Contenders.

Mondelez: Cadbury ‘The Twins’
Agency: Ogilvy Melbourne
Director: Mitch Kennedy, The Producers
We tell the story of a boy, sneaking out very early in the morning to the Easter egg hunt before anyone else in the house wakes up. He finds a generous Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter egg in the garden, high up in a tree, and tries everything he can to get his hands on it. His mum and twin sister are pleasantly surprised when they discover the young boy has managed to get the big egg, not for himself, but for his little sister who has a broken leg and can’t go outside Easter egg hunting. For Director Mitch Kennedy, this was a TVC that really played to his strengths of creating the perfect fusion of performance and visual narrative. The strength and beauty of the script allowed Mitch to concentrate on the casting and performances.

Sailors Grave: Proudly Australian
Creatives: Chris Hince + Andy Segal
Directors: Lou Quill + Tov Belling, The Producers
Set in the Australian bush, ‘Proudly Australian’ tells the story of a pair of Indigenous mates who are camping out. We assume they’re friends, as they question whether a big beer company would ever include them in a commercial as an often a neglected minority on screen with big advertisers. An expected twist, turns our assumptions on their head. This is why this commercial is a powerful and compelling story for social change, inclusion and diversity on screen. This film handles these issues with deft execution full of wit and heart. It won Judge and Audience awards at Brewin’ Transfer.

Darrell Lea: Dino Chase
Creative Agency: Akkomplice Melbourne
Director: Mitch Kennedy, The Producers
Deep in a remote jungle, somewhere, a couple of researchers are being furiously chased in their Jeep by none other than a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Moments from certain death, what could possibly get them through this predicament? A block of Darrell Lea chocolate of course.
