Commercial filming in a post-lockdown era: Everyone has a role to play on set

Leaner teams, social distancing, no senior citizens as talents. One thing’s for sure: new production norms will apply when shoots resume.

The Malaysian Association of Advertising Filmmakers has taken the first step to release a detailed guideline for commercial film production after the country lifts its lockdown period to minimise the risk and spread of Covid-19.

Many others have also joined forces to help promote these rules in light of keeping the production and film industry alive.

Top Malaysian production company Directors Think Tank, together with Imaginary Friends Malaysia, have created light and easy content of their new production rules on an Instagram page here for easy viewing. While these tips are not strict SOPs, they serve as fun reminders for industry folk that they have a part to play.

Agencies, clients, and crew members are now stars on every set. Their roles are featured in copy and illustrated visuals that speak in the language of likeminded industry people.

These initiatives coming from filmmakers and agencies alike are a sign that the show will go on, post-lockdown.
