DDB Group Hong Kong promotes Frankie Fung to Chief Creative Officer role and names Marco Lam as MD of Experience Design

DDB Group Hong Kong has elevated Frankie Fung from Executive Creative Director to Chief Creative Officer and expanded current Executive Creative Director, Marco Lam’s role, to ECD & Managing Director, Experience Design.

The promotion comes in a move to rally the creative department and wider agency behind one unified creative ambition – “Unexpected Works”, the global vision launched out of New York last week. Fung (pictued left) will drive this creative agenda for the agency in a locally relevant manner, which insists that the most creative work is also the most effective.

As the creative figurehead, Fung will oversee the entire creative department, working to bring all the creative teams closer together, enabling better resourcing of talent for specific projects and more diverse ideation.

Fung rejoined DDB Group Hong Kong in 2019, as Executive Creative Director. As ECD, he has produced highly effective creative work for McDonald’s and played a key role in driving new business growth for the agency. During this time, he has also added to the already extensive list of major creative award wins over his career, including Kam Fans and the One Show Asia Showcase, as well as contributed to the agency’s 2020 Campaign Agency of the Year Gold and Silver wins for Best Partnership, Greater China, together with McDonald’s, and Creative Agency of the Year, Hong Kong, wins respectively.

CEO of DDB Group Hong Kong, Andreas Krasser, said: “I am super happy for Frankie. I have known him for 8 years and some of the work we did together back in my planning days are still some of my proudest achievements. As well as his ability to create breakthrough work, I really admire how he works with his teams – they all love him. Frankie is a great mentor who provides his teams with both freedom and autonomy.”

Fung said: “DDB is my creative home. I have kept coming back throughout my career because ultimately, I think it has the best culture and the best clients – and that provides the opportunity to create the best work. Being able to head up the department is a great privilege. I am really excited about the talent we have in the wider team right now and bringing DDB’s creative vision to life together with our clients.”

In an additional move to further modernize the agency’s service offering, Lam’s new role reflects the importance the agency is placing on brand experiences with Marco driving new creative services, specializing in CX, UX, and UI strategy and design.

Lam (pictued right) said: “The current climate has indeed posed challenges, but the time is right for brands to explore more innovative ways to better connect with their customers. It’s extremely exciting to witness a client’s brand reach new potential in this space and I can’t wait to do more of it.”

Both promotions are effective immediately.
