Hill+Knowlton Strategies expands Justin Then role to CEO of Singapore and Malaysia

Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) has expanded Justin Then’s role within H+K Asia’s senior leadership team to CEO of H+K Singapore in addition to Lumos H+K Malaysia. Reporting to HS Chung, President for H+K Asia, Then will oversee the running of H+K’s Singapore and Malaysia operations, focusing on driving cross-market collaboration to accelerate business growth across the region.

Then’s appointment, which will take effect November 1, follows on from the recent strengthening of H+K Australia’s leadership team where Amelia Tipping was promoted to Managing Director along with a series of key promotions across Asia.

“Over the past decade we have established H+K as a creative force in the Malaysian PR market. I’m honoured to take on this expanded leadership role to further accelerate our Asia offering,” said Then. “The opportunity for increased synergy between our Singapore and Malaysia offices will deliver an unmatched competitive proposition in the market and I’m looking forward to working with both teams and our leadership to continue to deliver innovative work for our clients across Asia.”

Then has led Lumos H+K Malaysia since merging his agency, Lumos PR with H+K Malaysia in 2019. Prior to founding Lumos PR, Then was Managing Director of H+K Malaysia where he provided senior counsel to regional clients from diverse sectors including oil and gas, technology and financial services. He previously headed the Technology Practice at a local boutique agency where he led a team which serviced clients such as Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Hitachi Data Systems and Alcatel Lucent.

HS Chung, President, H+K Asia, said: “I am grateful to Matthew Briant for his commitment to H+K Singapore over the past couple of years and helping us build a strong regional hub team alongside Asia’s Centre of Excellence for Innovation and Creativity. We have an exceptional team in place that have significantly grown our presence in the market, which I know will only get stronger under Justin’s leadership. Justin has elevated our Malaysia business to a whole new level and his passion, regional expertise as well as entrepreneurial spirit are integral to our work and clients here at H+K. Singapore is an integral hub for our network and clients in the Asia market and I am looking forward to Justin’s vision for H+K coming to fruition.”

Before pursuing a career in PR and communications, Then was a technology journalist/editor with Computerworld Malaysia for more than eight years and a founding editor of PC.com. He holds a BA in Humanities (majoring in Philosophy) from La Trobe University, Australia.
