Wunderman Thompson Hong Kong hires Maggie Wong in Chief Executive Officer role replacing Matthew Parry who is moving to Sydney office
Wunderman Thompson has announced Maggie Wong will be joining the Hong Kong agency as Chief Executive Officer, effective from late October.
Wong joins Wunderman Thompson from Publicis Worldwide and Leo Burnett, where she led the agency to significant growth as Managing Director of the Hong Kong operation. In her time there, Wong created an inspiring multi-disciplinary team, landed high profile new business wins and kick-started data-led initiatives for global and local clients.
With over 17+ years of experience, Wong has worked with established international brands across various industries including Expedia, Lexus, Pizza Hut, HKT and Standard Chartered.
Wong said: “Wunderman Thompson HK has established an excellent base with a diverse blend of talents and capabilities to turbocharge the next chapter of growth. I’m hugely excited to be joining the wonderful team and by the prospect of what we can achieve together.”
Ewen Sturgeon, Wunderman Thompson International CEO said: “We’re very excited to see Maggie join us and bring her own brand of leadership and experience to the network. A talented and ambitious leader, Maggie has the right focus on creativity, data, and experience to continue growing the Hong Kong office.”
The news comes after former Managing Director Matthew Parry (below) makes the move to Australia joining Wunderman Thompson Sydney as Managing Director.
Parry began his career with J Walter Thompson London in 2006, before moving to Asia in 2012. Since then, Parry has helped establish and grow a regional hub team for HSBC spanning 12 APAC markets and has led a multi-national client portfolio in Shanghai. Most recently, Parry has grown Wunderman Thompson Hong Kong into one of the strongest agencies in the market.
Sturgeon says: “Matt leaves to Maggie a strong and successful agency, with a great team and clients. And I’m thrilled that Matt continues to grow his career in the Wunderman Thompson network.”
