Publicis Groupe’s creative tech head Laurent Thevenet to present ‘Future Gazers’ at Cannes

Laurent Thevenet will represent Publicis Groupe APAC & MEA at the ‘Future Gazers’ session at the Cannes Lions next week – a series that takes “an eye-opening walk into the future”.

Based in Singapore, Thevenet is Head of Creative Technology at Publicis Groupe APAC & MEA. He joins a group of hand-selected visionaries from across the industry to paint a picture of our world 18 months from now as part of the Future Gazers series on The Terrace at the Cannes Lions.

Called ‘Future Gazers – Wellness, Cities and Synthetic AI’, the session takes place on Monday 20 June, 4:30pm.

Thevenet will present a vision for the Future of Synthetic AI. He said: “We’re living in an era in which we see an explosion of research, experiments and ventures around creativity and technology. Almost every day, there is a new system that writes stories, composes music, paints artwork and designs buildings. And almost every other day, there is a new platform or piece of art driving the Metaverse early-adopters crazy. A.I. is taking it to the next level. It’s on the verge of disrupting all creative industries. Artists have been taking the lead, but what’s coming next will be across all disciplines.”

Thevenet will also reflect on what creatives can do to future proof their careers. He said: “The best work out there is always the result of collaboration across disciplines. The best creatives wear multiple hats – our industry needs to be much more versatile in future.”

Thevenet will be joined by Joe McDonnell, Head of Insight at WGSN in the UK, who’ll reflect on the future of wellness; and Kathryn Bishop, Foresight Editor at The Future Laboratory in London, who’ll reflect on The Future of Cities. This ‘Future Gazers’ session will be moderated by Lucy Aitken, Head of Content, LIONS Intelligence.
