Meta and Propel Manila turn any pathway into a walkway for Pride with augmented-reality filter

The Pride March is an annual cultural moment for members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community. This year, they were able to #WalkWithPride wherever they are in the world. With Propel Manila and Meta’s Reels Pride Walkway filter on Instagram, people were able to strut, dance, sing, and express their support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

The #WalkWithPride campaign was created through Meta and Propel Manila’s partnership with Filipino Spark AR artist, Mitsuko Ono, and Filipino LGBTQIA+ artist, Brent Sabas. The campaign has seen the support of personalities like Pia Wurtzbach, Donnalyn Bartolome, Ranz and Niana Guerrero, and Inka Magnaye among many others. From the streets of New York to gardens and living rooms, more and more people have been turning their spaces into paths for Pride.

#WalkWithPride is Propel Manila and Meta’s effort to allow more people to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Technology has always been a tool, and this Walk With Pride AR project with Meta continues to demonstrate how technology can make great ideas of being proud of one’s identity truly matter,” says JC Valenzuela, Chief Executive at Propel Manila. “While this AR was launched during Pride Month, this will be available beyond Pride whenever people want to express how proud they are of who they are.”

“Our platforms are a place where everyone can find their power and their voice to truly express their authentic selves and push for causes that matter. This Pride Month, we are championing the LGBTQIA+ creators and communities who are shaping culture and influencing how gender identity is express across our technologies,” says Rai Clemente, Strategic Partner Manager at Meta. “Through this collaboration with Filipino artists, we hope to help empower the LGBTQ+ community and illustrate our vision for a metaverse that provides vast opportunities to connect with people and communities in immersive ways.”
