HP / Prestasi Junior: Streetcode
Indonesia suffers from one of the largest wealth gaps in the world, and its only growing wider. 40,000 children live on the street, and hardly have access to a computer, let alone an education. Recognizing that this cycle of poverty was on track to worsen, HP decided to take action and find a way to empower and educate this untapped source of raw talent.
HP partnered with NGO Prestasi Junior to set-up a makeshift classroom under a highway bridge and hosted a 4-week curriculum teaching 20 kids to code using only paper and ink. To make the exercise even more tangible, the class was working together to animate a large-scale installation by Indonesian street artist Dabotz.
