GIGIL creates latest funny spot for RC Cola
The Philippine soda brand is back with a new film that may go viral again. After the success of their hilariously confusing ad “Family,” RC Cola, together with GIGIL Philippines, introduces a new film packed with unconventional, memorable, and funny ideas for a cola commercial. And just like its predecessors, it took no time for people to share their thoughts.
The film, aptly called “Balot,” introduces what looks like a normal everyday family as the mom brings home food from a party. Excited to eat, the family gathers around the table, and the ad takes a turn — revealing that the mom’s bag carried more than it could actually fit.
The concept balot or “take home” is a trait that is very Filipino. The film induces flashbacks of childhood embarrassments from older people during occasions or feasts where food is taken home in containers after. Others are proud supporters of this movement, as seen in these captions.
The brand truly knows its audience. From the scenario down to how the clown looks, all of the elements are familiar images to any Filipino. Even the music track, “Bituing Walang Ningning” originally sung by the Mega Star, fits perfectly in RC Cola’s new ploy of introducing their very own Litro. With their new product, RC Cola Litro, the soda brand positions itself as the best pairing with food in any Filipino gathering.
RC Cola continues to partner with GIGIL Philippines, a leading independent ideas agency. No stranger to being viral, the partnership has produced films that have the whole internet exploding with confusion, theories, and of course, laughter.
