Hooves’ director Kristoffer Borgli earns critical acclaim for his new satire on marketing-driven click culture, ‘Dream Scenario’

Starring Nicholas Cage and produced by A24, the surreal “instant classic” has critics asking if Borgli is “… the world’s next great comedy film-making talent?”

Kristoffer Borgli’s new film stars Nicholas Cage as an unremarkable professor who becomes a viral sensation after inexplicably appearing in people’s dreams.

From there it descends into a the kind of cutting satire that Borgli has become renown for, this time skewering marketing in delicious ways like Michael Cera enlisting Cage’s character, Paul, for a Sprite influencer partnership that would execute product placement in Paul’s dreams.

Critics are so far unanimous that Dream Scenario marks a potential career high for Nicholas Cage and a definite career catapult for Kristoffer Borgli.

The Hollywood Reporter writes: “Cage and Borgli make for a comedy dream team, spurring each other on to edgier extremes while never losing sight of the cautionary target at which the film so wickedly takes aim.”

Deadline question if “on the basis of this character-driven deadpan, flat-out hilarious film, Borgli could be the answer to the question: Who is the world’s next great comedy film-making talent?”
