Nando’s turns ‘don’t know lah’ into a meal order in new campaign via Chariot Agency

Ask someone where to eat, and the answer you’ll get will probably range from “Don’t know lah” to “you choose, I’m fine with anything”. Now, Nando’s is turning these familiar meal-time non-answers into something people can actually order.

Built on its ongoing “That’s a Nando’s Thing” brand platform, the new campaign launches alongside Nando’s new Sharing Platters and Quick Lunch Meals. Finally, an easy answer to meal-time indecisions.

“At Nando’s, meals have always been about good food, good company and a bit of PERi-PERi heat,” said Lim Siew Ling, Marketing Director of Nando’s Malaysia and Singapore. “The ‘don’t know lah, you choose’ moment is something everyone knows, and exactly the kind of playful, everyday behaviour ‘That’s a Nando’s Thing’ celebrates. With our Sharing Platters and Quick Lunch Meals, we’re making the decision easier, whether you’re sharing with the group or grabbing lunch on a busy day.”

If they say they want “anything,” there’s a platter for that. If they say “up to you,” there’s a Quick Lunch Meal for you. If the group chat gives you “IDK”, Nando’s is the answer.

Created with Chariot Agency, the campaign builds on the familiar rhythm of asking “Where to eat?” then flips the punchline into a product answer. The result is a campaign that makes the new menu items feel less like another food launch and more like a practical service to anyone trapped in the eternal meal-decision crisis.

“The insight is painfully familiar: people don’t always know what they want to eat, but they’re very good at giving unhelpful answers,” said Christyna Fong, Creative Director at Chariot. “So instead of fighting that behaviour, we used it.”

Nando’s new Sharing Platters and Quick-Lunch Meals are available across participating Nando’s restaurants in Malaysia and Singapore from April 21, with the campaign running across OOH, social, digital, and in-store.
