Dentsu Creative Thailand and Foot Balance turn the beach into a foot health check-up space
Dentsu Creative Thailand has turned a day at the beach into an opportunity for people to check their foot health, using a simple sand footprint stamp to make an often-overlooked health issue more visible and approachable.
Today, Thais are becoming increasingly proactive about their health. According to Ipsos, 84% of Thais want greater control over decisions about their health. Yet one essential part of the body is still often overlooked: the feet.
While 75% of people have experienced foot problems, most rarely check their feet seriously. As the foundation of every movement, foot health can affect how people walk, run, move and live every day.
The campaign was created to make foot health something people notice, understand and start checking for themselves. Rather than waiting for people to visit a clinic or store, the idea was to bring foot checking into a place where people were already barefoot, relaxed and open to trying something new.
The strategy turned a natural barefoot behaviour into a health-checking moment. The beach, a favourite destination for both Thais and tourists, provided the perfect setting, where people naturally take off their shoes. By placing the check-up in this context, foot health became easy, approachable and difficult to ignore.
Thanakom Ratchataroj, Managing Director, FootBalance, said: “Caring for how we move can change how we experience life itself. Dentsu Creative Thailand understands that our ambition is bigger than selling insoles; it is about changing the relationship people have with their own movement, and finding meaningful ways to make that idea matter. ‘Sand to Soles’ came from looking at the beach less like a beach and more like one enormous invitation to understand your feet. It meant swapping the consultation room for a stretch of sand and letting the beach do some of the work, even better.”
The idea turned the beach into a foot health check-up space using what is described as the world’s simplest foot-checking tool: a sand footprint stamp.
Ariyawat Juntaratip, Senior Executive Creative Director, Dentsu Creative Thailand, added: “Sand is probably the world’s oldest foot scanner, while a footprint in the sand is perhaps one of the simplest expressions of how we move through the world. The beach gave us bare feet, footprints and curiosity, while FootBalance gave those things relevance. We loved that ‘Sand to Soles’ could make something useful out of something so wonderfully ordinary. Just feet, sand and a brand that knows an awful lot about what happens between the two. The fun was giving FootBalance’s expertise a completely different playground.”
Visitors simply stamped their footprints into the sand and compared them with an easy-to-understand foot diagram, allowing them to instantly see whether their feet needed attention.
If an issue was identified, visitors could scan a QR code, add LINE and queue for custom-made insoles on the spot.
