Lennon Group + Lunchbox win top prize at Kidlat Awards for Groundbreaking Grindr Movie Tour
Manila independent creative agency Lennon Group and entertainment marketing agency Lunchbox have taken home the Grand Kidlat for Most Creative Marketing Stunt at the 2026 Philippines Kidlat Awards for an unconventional campaign promoting Petersen Vargas’ queer indie film Some Nights I Feel Like Walking.
Created for a film without big stars or a big marketing budget, Some Nights I Feel Like Doing a Grindr Movie Tour also picked up Gold for Most Creative Marketing Stunt, Silver for Most Creative Influencer & Endorsement Marketing and Bronze for Most Creative Promo, with four further finalist places.
Rather than follow the traditional mall tour and celebrity appearance route, Lennon Group and Lunchbox built the campaign around the film’s themes of queer desire, community and the underbelly of Manila.
The experience began with handwritten messages appearing on bus tickets, tissue paper, pad paper and receipts — tactile pieces designed to echo the film’s intimate and unconventional world.
The campaign then moved onto Grindr, turning the dating app into an unexpected movie tour platform. The film’s characters came to life through location-based interactions, chatting, flirting and connecting with users rather than simply advertising to them.
The campaign culminated in a premiere at Isetann Recto, an iconic Manila cinema with a long association with independent film and the queer community.
There was no luxury cinema, red carpet or conventional premiere treatment. Instead, guests were immersed in a recreation of the grittier side of Manila, with go-go boys welcoming audiences, KTV and massage parlour-inspired spaces, street food and dirty ice cream carts, and live performances from macho dancers.
The result turned a film marketing campaign into an experience that invited its audience to participate in the world of the movie.
“We believe creativity is most powerful when it creates human connection,” said Raymund Sison, Founder, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Lennon Group. “HumanKind Creativity is about using culture, technology, and storytelling not to interrupt people, but to bring them closer together.”
Carl Chavez, Founder of Lunchbox and Marketing Director for Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, added: “Here’s to more campaigns that bring Filipinos together and make them want to come back to the cinemas again.”
The Grand Kidlat comes shortly after Lennon Group’s international recognition at MAD STARS and adds to a growing run of creative accolades for the independent agency.
For Lennon Group and Lunchbox, the campaign demonstrates how film marketing can move beyond awareness and create a genuine cultural experience by meeting audiences in the platforms, places and communities they already inhabit.
