Flipkart and Talented India take Big Billion Days on the road with Kolkata’s BBD Bagh
As India gets ready for Flipkart’s Big Billion Days, the brand is taking the excitement to the streets of Kolkata with ‘Kothaye Jaabe Dada?’, an activation that turns one of the city’s most familiar associations with “BBD” into a celebration of Big Billion Days.
Created by Talented India, the campaign draws on BBD Bagh, formerly known as Dalhousie Square, and the city buses that have the iconic Kolkata destination on their route. By bringing Flipkart’s BBD message onto these buses and their tickets, the campaign connects a familiar part of Kolkata’s everyday commute with Big Billion Days.
The activation comes to life across select Kolkata buses travelling to and through BBD Bagh, placing Big Billion Days messaging in a setting where the initials already have a familiar local meaning. Bus tickets become unexpected discovery moments, carrying Big Billion Days offers and QR codes that passengers can scan to explore the sale. Flipkart gives a familiar part of Kolkata’s daily commute a festive twist, bringing its ‘Luck Badal Sakta Hai, Yahan Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ proposition to the city’s streets.
The film is centred on a Kolkata bus conductor and his longstanding association with the BBD Bagh route. It follows him from his first day on the bus through years of calling out “BBD! BBD!” across Kolkata’s streets, with comic moments showing how naturally the phrase becomes part of his routine.
When Flipkart’s Big Billion Days arrives, the same call is cleverly reinterpreted: BBD is no longer just a destination, but a signal for festive offers. Through offer-led bus tickets, passenger interactions and route-style announcements, the film turns a Kolkata commute into a playful Big Billion Days experience rooted in the city’s everyday culture.
