BBDO Bangkok and Juice Singapore put Spotify’s Blend and Jam features into the spotlight
BBDO Bangkok and Juice Singapore have created a new integrated campaign for Spotify, directed by Factory01’s Wuthisak “Un” Anarnkaporn, positioning the platform not simply as a streaming service, but as a cultural space where music lovers express themselves and connect with one another in ways only they understand.
Titled ‘Only Spotify People Know’, the campaign for the Thai market celebrates the unspoken, shared language of true music fans.
“Only Spotify People Know” aims to grow Spotify’s active user base in Thailand while increasing the awareness of features among users. Beyond usage and conversion, it is designed to deepen Spotify’s emotional connection with Thai audiences and reinforce the brand’s global vision of being the Home of True Fans – a place where people who genuinely love music can express who they are and connect with like-minded people.
The campaign is rooted in the cultural truth that Thai Gen Z communicates through shared references, memes, inside jokes and behaviors that only they understand. Spotify has become that same kind of space for music lovers as a platform where fans communicate in ways outsiders might not recognise. “Only Spotify People Know” brings this idea to life, showing that Spotify fans have their own shared language.
The earlier campaign film, launched in August, showed fans using Spotify’s Blend, a Spotify feature that merges two people’s music into one shared playlist and reveals how compatible their music tastes are. Spotify partnered with T-pop star Putthipong Assaratanakul (BILLKIN) and hip-hop artist YOUNGOHM, two artists you’d expect to have very little in common. But when they Blend, the result reveals they’re a perfect match.
The latest film shows Jam, a Spotify feature that lets friends listen together in real time, with everyone adding songs to the same shared queue. For the film, Spotify partnered with Artiwara Konmalai (Toon) from Bodyslam and guncharlie to show how Jam becomes a way to communicate and connect through the songs friends choose together. A group of school students take turns adding songs, and the playlist takes them on a shared emotional journey… until their teacher takes his turn to pick.…
Gustavo Figueiredo, Group Creative Director, Juice Singapore, said: “The campaign shows that Spotify is much more than a place to listen to music, where music lovers connect, express their identity, and belong. By highlighting how real fans use Spotify features to bond and share who they are, we wanted to build a unique culture based on musical taste that naturally sparks curiosity in outsiders, showing what it feels like to be part of an inner circle that only Spotify people truly know.”
Pathida Akkarajindanon, CCO at BBDO Bangkok, added: “We started with a simple question: what does it actually feel like to be on the inside? For Thai Gen Z, so much of how they connect is through shared references, inside jokes and things only their circle understands. We turned that into ‘Only Spotify People Know’, reimagining familiar Spotify features as a kind of secret language that fans will instantly get. And for those who don’t, will hopefully leave them with just a little bit of FOMO.”
“Only Spotify People Know” comes to life across films, OOH, digital and social. The films are available in multiple lengths, ranging from 74s/89s (long form), to 6s, and are currently running across TVC, Programmatic CTV, social, digital and performance marketing channels.
The outdoor campaign brings the message to life across the streets of Thailand, revealing a Spotify experience that transforms strangers into a unified audience. Interactive billboards showcase individuals with headphones on, seemingly in their own worlds. The interaction reveals they are actually all in sync, listening to the same track as part of a Spotify Jam. The billboards appear across multiple sites in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Chonburi, with a major presence at Parc Paragon and across 37 expressway billboards.
The videos and out-of-home initiatives are further supported by digital and social activations that extend the idea across touchpoints.
