Cathay Cargo showcases air-land connectivity through MasterChef Asia challenge
Cathay Cargo has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery on a special challenge featured in episode two of the new reality competition series, MasterChef Asia.
Set against the backdrop of Macao, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the challenge begins with a striking reveal: a giant cargo box containing ten boxes of ingredients, each inspired by a contestant’s heritage. As contestants uncover the ingredients and the stories behind them, they are challenged to transform familiar flavors into dishes worthy of the MasterChef Asia kitchen.
The challenge was inspired by a simple idea: every ingredient has a place of origin, and every dish tells a story of where it comes from. This provided a creative link to Cathay Cargo’s broader brand purpose of connecting people, businesses and communities around the world. Leo Hong Kong brought both partners together and led the coordination of the challenge.
“Our role was to bring Cathay Cargo and MasterChef Asia together and turn a shared ambition into a challenge that audiences could experience. By placing the ingredients at the heart of the competition, we created an engaging platform that celebrates how food can connect cultures,” said Kenneth Poon, Director of Client Services, Leo Hong Kong.
Cathay Cargo combines a network of more than 100 global destinations with five-hour connectivity across Asia with its Hong Kong home hub. Backed by the specialist Cathay Fresh solution, the professional teams deliver expedited handling and end-to-end cold-chain assurance for fresh produce and other temperature- sensitive shipments, preserving freshness from origin to destination.
In Hong Kong, this connectivity extends seamlessly into the Greater Bay Area through Cathay Cargo’s air- land intermodal network. Following flight arrival, perishables can be transferred directly to temperature- controlled trucks for onward delivery across the region, connecting global origins with GBA destinations through one integrated air-to-land logistics ecosystem.
Cathay Cargo is dedicated to shipping what matters to the world. The MasterChef Asia challenge brings this belief to life by showing how ingredients can become vehicles for storytelling. Through dishes inspired by their heritages, contestants share the traditions, memories and cultural influences that have shaped their culinary identities, creating moments of connection that extend far beyond the kitchen.
Ricardo Lo, Head of Marketing, Cathay Cargo, said: “At Cathay Cargo, we connect people, businesses and communities through the movement of goods around the world. Every fresh ingredient has a story that begins at its place of origin and travels through a complex supply chain before reaching the table. Through our Greater Bay Area air- land intermodal network and Cathay Fresh solution, we help connect producers and markets across the region and beyond. We are delighted to partner with MasterChef Asia to celebrate how food transcends borders, brings cultures together and creates meaningful connections between people.”
