Following on from recent wins at AdFest, leading SE Asian production company and Campaign Brief’s ‘The Work’ production company of the year, Directors Think Tank, have just picked up a Gold Spike in the Entertainment category at Spikes Asia for Petronas ‘Land of the Light Bulb’.
The three-part web film was a collaboration with Ensemble Worldwide Malaysia and production partners Fingerprint Films. The project was an opportunity to create a branded content campaign to strengthen PETRONAS‘ presence in India. The films highlight the energy that drives India.
The production was supported in India by Fingerprint Films and Executive Producer Madhukar Kotian. All three episodes were co-directed by Directors Think Tank director and co-owner Rajay Singh (one SE Asia’s most awarded directors) and India’s Rajesh Mapuskar (winner of the national film award for best director for his film The Ventilator)
Rajay Singh, said: “We started with all guns blazing. Because the task of making this felt like the plot to The Magnificent 7. Our search for the best gunslingers in town took us to Madhu and Rajesh and before we knew it, it became the story of the magnificent 148 strong cast and crew. We could not have done this without a single one of them saddling up and taking on this wild ride with us.”
Stephen Douglas, Executive Director at Directors Think Tank, says: “This victory is a great win for Malaysian production standards.”
The Gold in Entertainment was one of only 2 Gold Spikes won by Malaysia. Also shortlisted in the Entertainment category at Spikes Asia was another film entered by Directors Think Tank for Axiata & Celcom. The film “The First Choir” was shot for Malaysia’s Merdeka Day for M&C Saatchi Kuala Lumpur.
