Ogilvy Pakistan wins second Grand Prix at Cannes: Telenor ‘Naming the invisible by Digital Birth Registration’ takes out top award in Mobile

Ogilvy Pakistan’s Telenor ‘Naming the invisible by Digital Birth Registration’ campaign has won it’s second Grand Prix of the Cannes Lions awards. After winning the country’s first Grand Prix ever on Tuesday, ‘Naming the invisible by Digital Birth Registration’ has topped the Mobile Lions category.

The campaign, destined to be APAC’s most awarded at the Cannes Lions this year, utilised mobile technology to provide digital birth registration for thousands of ‘invisible’ children in Pakistan. In addition to the Grand Prix the campaign also was awarded a Silver Lion.

Mobile Lions Jury President, Andrew Keller, VP, Global Creative Director, Facebook, called it a “beautifully ambitious project” adding: “I love that the work is sustainable, this isn’t a campaign that’s here today, gone tomorrow, it’s something that’s going to drive continued change for Pakistan in an incredibly powerful way and we were all blown away and beyond inspired by this piece.”

Also winning a Silver Lion is ‘Now, Words Aren’t Just Heard, But Felt’ for Samsung by Cheil India.

Wunderman Thompson Bangkok’s ‘Stay Home Miles Exchange’ for Thai Airways picked up a Mobile Bronze Lion.

And the ‘8-Bit Journo’ campaign for Vice Media created by Dentsu Webchutney Mumbai also won a Bronze Lion.

In the Mobile Lions, celebrating device-driven creativity, 898 entries were received and 34 Lions awarded: 7 Gold, 11 Silver and 15 Bronze.
