74 Pencils making their way to Asia following last night’s D&AD Awards presentation
Asia has performed very well at 2022 D&AD Awards, announced over the past two nights, picking up 1 White Pencil, 8 Yellow Pencils, 22 Graphite Pencils and 43 Wood Pencils.
China recorded 4 Graphite Pencils and 12 Wood Pencils from their 46 shortlists at D&AD.
TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai’s picked up 1 Graphite and 1 Wood Pencil for their Chinese New Year – Apple campaign titled ‘The Comeback’.
Ogilvy Shanghai has also won 2 Wood Pencils for clients Tmall and G-Life Shanghai.
Single Wood Pencils were awarded to 33 and Branding Beijing, Monotype, Xiangaopeng, T-Change Design and BRU:D.
India was one of Asia’s top performing countries, converting 38 shortlists into 1 White Pencil, 1 Yellow Pencil, 10 Graphite Pencils and 14 Wood Pencils. Their showing was led by Dentsu Webchutney who picked up 1 Yellow Pencil, 4 Graphite Pencils and 3 Wood Pencils for their award winning ‘The Unfiltered History Tour’ campaign.
VMLY&R Mumbai has won a White Pencil and 2 Wood Pencils for their ‘The Killer Pack’ campaign for Maxx Flash.
FCB India and The Times Of India / Political Shakti’s, ‘The Nominate Me Selfie’ picked up 2 Graphite Pencils and 2 Wood.
Ogilvy Mumbai’s ‘Shah Rukh Khan-My-Ad’ campaign won 2 Graphite Pencils and 1 Wood. Ogilvy also scored 1 Wood for Dove work.
DDB Group Mudra film for KRAFTON, ‘Machine-Gun Mouth’, was awarded 1 Graphite Pencil and 3 Wood Pencils.
Memesys Culture Lab also picked up 2 Wood Pencils.
The Japanese performance was led by Dentsu Tokyo who collected 3 Yellow Pencils, 1 Graphite Pencil and 2 Wood Pencils.
Their Yellow Pencil winners were; ‘Find Your Own Way’ for Pocari Sweat, ‘13865 Black Dots and 2 Red Dots’ for Nagasaki Shimbunsha and ‘Camouflage Against the Machines’ for Unlabeled and NexusⅦ.
Hakuhodo Tokyo picked up 1 Yellow Pencil for the ‘Hair Album’ for TAKARA BELMONT Global.
Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo picked up 1 Wood Pencil for client Nike.
Design Agency, Maru also picked up 1 Yellow Pencil.
Overall Japan picked up the most Yellow Pencils from Asia with 5. From their 51 shortlists they also picked up 3 Graphite Pencils and 8 Wood Pencils.
Design agency’s Fjord Tokyo and Lights Design each scored 1 Graphite Pencil each.
Enjin Tokyo, Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo and Dentsu West Japan won 1 Wood Pencil each.
Korea turned their 10 shortlists overall into 1 Yellow Pencil and 2 Graphite Pencils.
Moho Film was awarded 1 Yellow Pencil for Shot on iPhone ‘Life is But a Dream’.
INNOCEAN Worldwide South Korea picked up a Graphite Pencil for their PARACOSM STUDIO campaign.
Hong Kong has picked up 2 Wood Pencils both for Samsung’s ‘The Cost of Bullying’ created via Cheil Hong Kong and Cheil PengTai.
Singapore was awarded 2 Graphite Pencils, 4 Wood Pencils and 1 Side Hustle Pencil from their 19 shortlists.
Kinetic Singapore scored 2 Graphite Pencils for their ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’ campaign.
Each picking up 1 Wood Pencil are Forsman & Bodenfors Singapore and Psyop’s, ‘The Chase’ campaign for Head and Shoulders, Publicis Groupe Singapore and India collaborated on Vicks ‘Care Lives On #TouchOfCare – 2021’ and Wunderman Thompson Singapore’s ‘Scroll scroll scroll, tap tap tap’ for AMILI.
From their 8 shortlists, Thailand converted 5 of them into Pencils.
Wunderman Thompson Bangkok won 1 Graphite Pencil for their The 1 Central Limited film ‘The Trainee’, Wunderman Thompson also picked up 1 Wood Pencil for TikTok.
Choojaiandfriends picked up 2 Wood Pencils for their Siam Cement Group campaign.
Ogilvy Group Thailand scored 1 Wood Pencil for ‘No Pests Allowed’.
Taiwan picked up 1 Yellow Pencil for Bito’s ’58th Golden Horse Awards’ for Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee.
Malaysia scored 1 Wood Pencil from their 4 shortlists.
The Philippines only Pencil was a Wood and it was awarded to BBDO Guerrero for ‘The Dissolving Bottle’ campaign.
