Campaign Brief Asia’s 2023 China Creative Rankings: Cheil PengTai Beijing moves up to #1 in China followed by Tencent In-House Shenzhen, The Nine Shanghai and TBWA\Media Arts Lab

Cheil PengTai Beijing has been named Campaign Brief Asia’s 2023 Agency of the Year for China, following the release of the 2023 Asia Creative Rankings. It is the first time the agency has ranked #1 in China in our Asia Creative Rankings. With 1465 points Cheil ranks ahead of Tencent In-House Shenzhen at #2, The Nine Shanghai at #3 and TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai at #4.

 

Cheil PengTai Beijing’s top performing campaigns were “Quest For Dyslexia” and “The Cost Of Bullying” both for Samsung. They scored awards at 16 award shows over this period January 2022 to August 2023 and had their best performances at Cannes 22, AdFest 23 +22, One Show 23 + 22, Clio and AWARD Awards 22.

Last year’s #1 agency, Tencent In-House Shenzhen, is ranked #2 this year with 990 points. They’ve been a strong performer in recent rankings, having consistently found themselves as China’s hottest agency, topping the chart in both 2021 and 2020. Tencent In-House scored their points in 2022 winning awards at Cannes, LIA, Clio, AWARD Awards, MAD Stars and Campaign Brief’s THE WORK. They were also the #2 ranked agency in Asia-Pacific and #1 ranked agency in Asia in Campaign Brief’s THE WORK 2022.

With 775 creative ranking points, The Nine Shanghai is ranked #3 in China. The drop on position from their 2021 and 2020 ranking of #2. The Nine scored their points in Campaign Brief’s THE WORK 23 + 22 and at D&AD 23, AdFest 22, AWARD Awards 22 and MAD Stars 22.

TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai are China’s biggest risers in Campaign Brief Asia’s Creative Rankings. Finishing in #4 place, they’ve improved on their previous two ranking positions of #13 and #21. TBWA\Media Arts Lab’s top award performer was their “Shot on iPhone 13 Pro – The Comeback” campaign for Apple, which won multiple awards.

BBDO China has rises to #5 in China, due to a great performance at New York Festivals this year, winning 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze for their Anheuser-Busch Inbev “The Harbin Sit Pack”. They also scored points in Campaign Brief’s THE WORK 23 + 22.

TBWA\JUICE Beijing ranks at #6 with 375 points. The agency won big at One Show 23, where they scored 180 points. They also won awards at AdFest 23, New York Festivals 23, Cannes 22 and LIA 22.

TBWA\Shanghai are #7 with 265 points, having won at Clio 23, Cannes 22 and Campaign Brief’s THE WORK 23 + 22.

Draftline Shanghai won Gold and Silver at Cannes 2023, as well a Grand Prix At Spikes Asia 2023 to put them into #8 position overall in China.

Dentsu Creative Shanghai’s 200 points ranks them at #9 in China. They won awards at Cannes 2023, LIA 22 and in both years of Campaign Brief’s THE WORK.

Ranking at #10 is TBWA\BOLT Shanghai.
